Welcome to the Butch Empowerment Project!

We are very excited to tell ya’ll about the next step in our journey...

We started the Butch Boudoir Project in 2019 as a space to elevate and bring more visibility to Butch People. At the time I knew this space needed to exist but I wasn’t sure where it was going. The original concept was centered around boudoir photography and being a “space” to celebrate the handsomeness and beauty of butches. The project rapidly grew and expanded, to include more butches, a yearly calendar, swag, stickers and more. As we continued to grow and share our story it became clear that this is much bigger than its original name and concept.

2024 brought forth a lot of change, growth, and healing in my life, and that of my family. As this project is such a huge part of me and our lives; it stands to reason that the changes it needed to grow would come to light in all of that. Something I think we can all relate to as queer people; that as we grow and change over time and learn more about ourselves, that sometimes our name or identity needs to shift along with it.

We are moving forward with intention, and as we step into 2025 it felt like the perfect time to bring the project along with us; with its new name: The Butch Empowerment Project!

This project is a safe space for Butch people to see themselves in our stories, it is a place where we are free from the gatekeeping of our identities, and free to express and expand what Butch means to us, it’s a hub for Butch products designed with Butch folks in mind. It’s a place where we elevate each other and celebrate our identities. It’s a place where we uplift our community from within and come together to celebrate ourselves.

Thank you for being on this journey with us, no matter when you arrived. I can’t wait to see where we go from here. 💙
