As we close in on a year of healing, I’m ready to open the floodgates to talk about it more. While I saw a clear and big need for this content as I was experiencing it, I only had the bandwidth to do…well exactly what I did.
It left so many questions unanswered, it left so many topics on the surface where we could have gone deeper, and it has always been my intent to re-open and continue this conversation about butch healthcare.
So here we are!
Some bullet points to get us started, and some of the most asked questions for me.
Was it medically necessary? Yes. Very much so! I had been struggling since my early 20s with my reproductive organs causing me pain and discomfort. For reference that timeframe is about 15 years. However as a non-binary person, it was also a gender affirming experience for me! I like to refer to it as my “accidentally gender affirming” hysterectomy.
Was it cancer? It was not! Tests did show that there was *potential* for it to take that route, especially if I did not take action, however that was not a defining factor or the cause of the yeet.
Adenomyosis. It’s closely aligned with endometriosis, not exactly the same. A non-medical, simply a person who had it explanation, is it’s like endo but it stays in the uterus instead of spreading out to other organs. I had also been diagnosed with endometriosis, as I have a rampant family history of it and all the symptoms, however my surgeon said it had not spread beyond my uterus, so I was un-diagnosed. There will be a lot more to cover on the topics of being diagnosed and un-diagnosed as we continue on this healthcare journey. lol.
So there are 3 quick bullet points to get us started. Butch healthcare is SO important, and I’m not going to stop talking about it.

You are SO important and loved and your health matters. I know this is hard, and scary, and this particular doctor is not one we like to go to….but we need you here.🫶
